Evaluation of progress & Website planning

In the development and creation of my coursework, I have planned a photoshoot, created two front covers and then re-drafted these, as well as two contents pages, the pictures I have used across my Christmas products were fully original as they were not inspired by anything I had looked, however, for the NYE cover, I was inspired by an edition of Japanese VOGUE as pictured below.

What had drawn my attention to this was that they were all models from different ethnicities yet all standing almost as a family, the message I am trying to send through my products is that fashion is for everyone no matter the identity and such. This was clearly the way to go in my opinion as it exactly represented the way I felt towards fashion, a multitude of models from different backgrounds all standing together as a family.

Due to a number of limitations, my photoshoot was not the most ideal as it had to take place in a normal house that had no fashion aspect whatsoever, I therefore used mise-en-scene as well as photo-editing throught photoshop in order to make my covers, this included me moving furniture and using different camera angles, as well as removing certain objects from my pictures such as plants or paintings in the background, this proved to be quite a difficult task but after a considerable amount of work, I was finally able to execute the ideas I had in mind.

My next objective is the website creation, I plan to use a range of original images as well as images from secondary sources across my website pages, the homepage will feature articles about various topics such as fashion, health and such. I will also show media convergence by adding pretend links to social media accounts that IDEM would be represented on, this will be visible across all the pages. The second page will be an 'about us' page that informs the readers about  Bauer's values and what IDEM stands for, it will also include a more 'human' part where readers can get to know the models and faces of IDEM.

Sorting out the photoshoot pictures

I have sorted all the pictures from my photoshoot into folders so that it would be easier for me to know where to find the pictures I need according to which part of my coursework I was working on. The pictures in these folders can be seen across my magazine covers, contents pages, website and other blog posts with their respecting names. This has allowed me to be much faster in the creation of my products.

Font exploration for Magazine products

On this post I show the fonts that I have tested for my magazine covers: Font 1 : Impact Font 2 : Algerian Font 3: Arial Nova Font 4: Elephant Font 5: Rockwell Nova Font 6: Agency FB Font 7: Segoe Script The final decision I made considering what font(s) to use was using Rockwell Nova because I found it to be a variation of a serif font that did not look too childish or too serious thus appealing to my target audience and demographic as it just seems simple and classic but yet sophisticated. My original products has used the SEGOE SCRIPT font, after feedback from peers and teachers, it was pointed out to me that this font wasn't appropriate to the world of fashiion magazines as it looked almost childish or unserious hence why I have decided to use Rocwell Nova for my next covers draft and contents pages.

Timeline of events

This is a timeline of events I have drawn to give a brief idea of what should be accomplished during specific time periods and allow myself to meet deadlines and stay organised in a timely manner.
